TauRx Supports World Clinical Trials Day 2021

World Clinical Trials Day 2021

In 1747 James Lind, a Scottish naval surgeon, sought to examine the causes and treatment of scurvy on the HMS Salisbury.

It is believed Lind conducted one of the first clinical trials by dividing 12 sailors into 6 groups each treated with a remedy for scurvy over a number of days. Lind then compared his findings and discovered oranges and lemons was a better treatment than the others to prevent and cure scurvy.

To honour this monumental day, the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) launched the World Clinical Trials Day to give thanks to professionals who conduct clinical trials. The event will be celebrated this year on 20 May.

World Clinical Trials Day is also an opportunity to give thanks to the professionals supporting the research and the volunteers, without whom clinical trials could not take place. The importance of clinical trial participants must not be understated - they are crucial for the completion of any trial. TauRx has recently announced that our Phase III trial, Lucidity, is fully randomisation and we are extremely grateful to all our research sites and study participants. Thank you!
