I’m Claire Hull and I’m TauRx’s Scientific Officer. My role involves writing scientific documents such as scientific manuscripts or reports for publication, educational material, or background literature related to any ongoing experimental work within the company.
I’ve always had an interest in how things work and why they work in a certain way. I pursued science because it allows you to explore this. At school I really enjoyed the practical side of science and seeing results in real life instead of just reading about it in a textbook.
I’m continually learning new things at TauRx and every day I get to experience new challenges, pushing myself to learn and develop new skills. I really enjoy that the work I do has significance in the real world and knowing I am contributing towards helping people is very motivating.
To anyone interested in science, I would say it is an extremely rewarding career which can take you in many directions. It’s also one which offers the opportunity to continuously develop new skills and apply these skills to important research that can benefit others.
I’m Helen Shiells, a Senior Biostatistician at TauRx. This means I provide statistical support to their clinical trials, from the planning stages, to conducting the trials to analysis and reporting.
I’ve always been particularly interested in Physics and Maths and pursued further education and a career in the area because I enjoy applying these skills to solve problems. I enjoy my job at TauRx because it’s so varied, there is always something new to look at and no two days look the same.
My advice to anyone interested in a career in science is to be bold to pursue what you enjoy. Don’t be afraid to challenge conventional thinking. Scientists come in all different kinds of packages, and the world would be dull if everyone was the same!
